  • Special features regarding teaching
The Faculty of Economics at Münster University is characterised by excellent training. It places special emphasis on international standards in teaching and on continuous dialogue with students. We offer a scientifically sound and at the same time practical teaching and research programme. The teaching of ethical principles forms an integral part of all courses. The high quality of the training is reflected in the excellent reputation that our graduates enjoy in science and business.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Internationalisation is a high priority at the Faculty of Economics. The faculty has a broad network of very good partner universities, which enable students to spend various types of time abroad - from semesters abroad (with full credit for exam performance) to double degrees. In addition, the faculty attaches great importance to teaching in English, meaning that all programmes have a high proportion of English-language courses. Some programmes can be studied entirely in English.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Aalto University,Finnland; Universidade de Lisboa, Portugal; Universidad Rey Juan Carlos Madrid, Spanien; Dublin City University, Irland; Università degli Studi di Roma 'La Sapienza', Italien; Universität Zürich, Schweiz; Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Poznaniu, Polen; University of Leicester, Großbritannien, Universidad Adolfo Ibanez, Chile, University of Sydney, Australien.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Compared to other business departments, the faculty has one of the best facilities with subscriptions to economic databases throughout Germany - from Datastream to Compustat to Wharton Research. These can be used by students and staff in research and teaching. The statistical packages Stata, EViews and R are available for quantitative analyses at the workstations as well as in the four computer pools. The faculty is also a university-wide pioneer in the use of e-learning and electronic exams.
  • Special features regarding research activities
The department has a common understanding that basic research and applied research with a wide range of topics correspond to its social responsibility. Projects: Excellence Start-up Centre.NRW (ESC) at WWU, European Research Centre for Information Systems (ERCIS), network CLAIRE (Confederation of Laboratories for Artificial Intelligence Research in Europe), Virtual Institute Smart Energy (VISE); DFG (sub-projects): FOR 2738, FOR 1452, SPP 1921
  • Support for founders
The department has successfully acquired the Excellence Start-up Centre.NRW at the WWU (ESC). The ESC is the central platform for the founding of excellent knowledge and technology-based companies within the EUREGIO ecosystem. It is intended to implement sustainable, science-based business models for a better life and offers entrepreneurship teaching, scouting and coaching / mentoring. It is also a meeting point for various activities of the department and the WWU (ERCIS Launchpad, Venture Club, Enactus, etc.)
  • Other special features
The Faculty of Business and Economics is one of only 11 faculties in Germany to be awarded the international AACSB accreditation - one of the world's most important accreditations for business schools, which has so far been awarded to only about 5% of all business schools worldwide. It shows that our faculty stands for quality-oriented and international teaching and research. The accreditation also stands for a voluntary commitment to quality and constant development.
