    The institute's overall focus is on interculturality; Specialisation options are available in all degree courses; Excellent career prospects due to high practical component. "German language and literature in dialogue" concept (close cooperation of sub-disciplines), innovative teaching content (semiotics and multimodal communication/gesture research); Digital Humanities); skills module with Speech Science and Practical Speech; Technical media competence. IKK: Social and cultural science orientation and critical cultural communication, intensive project learning, peer-to-peer learning, innovative examination forms.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    A particular university-wide contribution to the mobility of students and to the international character of TU Chemnitz is made by the professorship for "Intercultural Communication" and "German as a Foreign and Second Language", who are also responsible for supervising the ERASMUS programme (incoming and outgoing students). The close links between the courses in the fields of Intercultural Communication and German Studies strengthen the department's international orientation.     Research: ‘Multimodal Interaction Lab’ (Professorship in Germanic Linguistics, Semiotics and Multimodal Communication), for video analysis and processing, eye-tracking experiments and data collection. Teaching: For experience-oriented learning in virtual settings and for research project-related instruction, including HMDs (such as Oculus Rift) and eye-tracking glasses (Tobii Pro Glasses 2). The university library has holdings in numerous subject-specific databases. Independent planning and implementation of projects by students (IKK; Intercultural German Studies).
