  • Special features regarding teaching
    The EBS is an entrepreneurial private university that acts like an entrepreneur. In its research and teaching, it deals with an uncertain economic and social environment that is exposed to constant change. EBS students are given a practical, scientifically sound and internationally oriented education that allows them to take up leadership tasks and social responsibility in an environment shaped by uncertainty and volatility.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The international focus of EBS is reflected, for example, in its deliberate policy of maintaining an international student body and having international professors. In addition, the compulsory semester abroad as part of our BSc and MSc programmes represents a key international/cross-cultural experience. The EBS has a network of 260 partner universities, superb in both quantitative and qualitative terms. This way, we are networked with leading universities in 23 of 30 key countries (by GDP) and in 13 of 15 key emerging markets.

    41 lecture theatres of various sizes equipped with whiteboards, projectors, of which 13 feature interactive flip charts; 2 computer rooms with 35 PCs for courses and for free use (24/7); Available software: SPSS, STATA, Matlab; 12 Bloomberg terminals; Research/study PCs in 2 libraries; printers/copiers, free scan-to-email service & campus-wide WiFi; Student portal with webmail, discussion forums and access to online databases (e.g. Reuters, e-books, journals); two certified TOEFL test centres; 50 examination notebooks for flexible usage; Free-to-student MS Office 365 licences for 10 terminals.

    Internationally orientated academic research with approx. 40 publications a year in ranked specialist journals/conference proceedings; About the same volume of practice-orientated research on subjects with a high level of economic/social relevance; diverse cooperation initiatives/contacts with German/internationally active companies and renowned international research institutes; International professors (25%); Promotion of junior researchers (study abroad, international conferences, workshops on methodology development, promotion of research and academic writing); structured doctoral programme.
  • Research topics reflected in teaching
    It is customary at the EBS Business School to integrate current research topics into teaching. This is done for traditional lectures/seminars and with respect to the assignment of topics set for Bachelor's and Master's theses, as well as, in particular, in so-called Consulting Field Studies, where real challenges are worked on by companies. Topics include the following, for example: Strategic Management: Business model innovation, platforms, open innovation and crowdsourcing; Economics: Managerial economics & personnel economics; Supply Chain Management: Sustainability.

  • Support for founders
    Large network/access to successful entrepreneurs among the EBS alumni; Teaching of principles and Best Practices of Entrepreneurship (Bachelor's course: Communication of theory with strong practical orientation through guest lectures by founders and industry insiders, Master's course on start-up and new business development: Close contact between students and companies with intensive supervision and coaching in very small groups to develop business models); Open-ended tasks help students to become independent, who organise independently the annual EBSpreneurship Forum.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    The EBS helps students with chronic health problems through individual solutions to make it easier for them to succeed. Such assistance includes extensions or provision of technical aids, such as computers for writing exams, appropriate sitting/standing options or accommodation in a special room where support features (such as a foot rest) can be installed. In the case of visual impairment, magnifying glasses or a special computer program may be used.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    Initiatives to promote female students: Scholarships for female students, the Women Inspiring Business initiative (a network founded by female students for the purpose of careers development), regular roundtables, research projects on the topic of women; Socially disadvantaged groups are assisted at the student level through bursaries, for example. In all appointment procedures, the EBS will select women professors when there are applicants with identical qualifications in order to encourage the diversity of scientific staff.
  • Other special features
    Incorporation of personality development through coaching and social projects among other things. Strong involvement of the students in the student community, social interests and joint events. Strong community spirit of all students and staff (EBS Spirit). Students organise several congresses a year on their own, such as the EBS Symposium, the largest economic congress organised by students in German-speaking countries. Action of former students in the alumni network on behalf of each other, current students and the University.
