Special features regarding teachingTeaching is characterised by a wide range of, innovative teaching methods which are continually developed based on the latest scientific findings. Particular value is attached to closely linking educational content to practical application, e.g. through practical projects in which students work independently with instruction, as well as through regular visits from experts working in the field. In addition, students are given a solid foundation in methods of empirical educational research so that they have diverse professional prospects open to them.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe institute is part of an international network. With regard to teaching, there are ERASMUS exchange programmes with six European universities (including in France, Spain and Finland). Through the EUCOR programme, students can participate in events organised by the Upper Rhine universities in France and Switzerland. The Institute's research has an international focus which is reflected in publications in international technical journals and presentations at international conferences. In addition, there are regular visiting academics invited for exchange from other countries.
