  • Special features regarding teaching
    Psychology places value on research-oriented teaching and learning. In the first year of studies there is a ‘research-oriented internship’, in the 3rd year of studies a 2nd ‘Empirical internship’. All of psychology is taught in its breadth, but also with many possibilities for a deeper look. Value is placed on the highest methodological standards, especially openness and transparency in research, but also in teaching. 4 Master’s programmes qualify students for various occupational fields in psychology, including a licence in psychotherapy. A variety of training opportunities exist.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Psychology offers two Master´s degree programmes taught in English: Neuro Cognitive Psychology and Master of the Learning Sciences; There are numerous international research collaborations; there is an extensive range of external, English-speaking lecturers; International exchange takes place via Erasmus+ and LMU Exchange.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Numerous laboratories, which can also be used by students (EEG & behaviour, multi-sensory perception, eye-tracking, virtual lab, baby and child labs, video labs, transcranial magnet simulation, spectroscopic instruments, neurostimulation, fMRI scanner in cooperation with Medicine). Library with a large reference stock and access to numerous online journals; Students have access to PCs and software in the CIP pools; the IT Helpdesk offers direct support; In addition: Testothek test archive, Testlab, i-Teach, Melessa (Munich Experimental Laboratory for Economic and Social Sciences), research and teaching outpatient clinics.
  • Special features regarding research activities
    Psychology is involved in numerous projects, funded by the DFG, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, the OECD, various foundations and corporations, etc.; Research Unit Active Perception (German Research Foundation); the research projects take place across a wide range of the represented subject areas.
  • Other special features
    Further education, guidance and coaching programmes are available for academics at the Center for Leadership and People Management. Students are supported through peer-to-peer mentoring. Students are actively encouraged to present their work in meetings of groups in their area of specialisation. The focus is on forms of research-oriented learning.
