Special features regarding teachingThe course structure of the BSc and MSc follows the recommendations of the German Psychological Society (DGPs). BSc.: Extensive methodology training; application-based specialisations in the subjects of Occupational and Organisational Psychology, Clinical Psychology and Educational Psychology. M. Sc.: In-depth courses in Statistics and Diagnostics; specialisation in Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychopathology; Cognitive Neuroscience; Learning, Development and Guidance also possible in Personnel and Business Psychology depending on capacities.

Special features regarding the international orientationThe department maintains Erasmus/Socrates agreements with 20 psychological institutes in Europe. Students are also supported if they want to organise a stay abroad themselves, e.g. in the USA. Recognition of credits obtained at foreign universities according to the principles of the Lisbon Convention. Staff mobility agreements exist with 11 European universities as part of the Erasmus programme, regular stays by research scholarship holders (DAAD), "Applied Statistics and Network Analysis" guest lectureship (DAAD) and membership of the Brazil Centre at WWU.

Special features regarding the equipmentTwo computer labs which are freely accessible to students with 24 workstations, two computer labs primarily for teaching and for collecting data for Bachelor's and Master's theses, each with 20 workstations; Wifi; 3 EEG labs, TMS lab, psycho-physiological lab, language lab, four behavioural observation labs of which one is specifically for research into childlike behaviour in babies and infants; precision engineering and electronics workshop.

Special features regarding research activitiesAttention is paid to interdisciplinary approaches (compare, for example, Priority Programme "Public Understanding of Fragile or Conflicting Scientific Evidence" (German Research Foundation Priority Programme 1409) and "Trust and Communication in a Digitised World" (DFG Research Training Group 1712/1)). A further interdisciplinary Research Training Group is currently being developed. There are also currently third-party-funded individual projects in all fields. Dedicated operating units in Organisational and Clinical Psychology and other practice partnership agreements allow for an intensive transfer between research and professional practice.

Support for foundersSince SS 21, a W1 professorship in psychology, ‘Psychology of Interpreneurship’ has been filled; the professorship works in close cooperation with the Euregio Start-UP Center REACH.

Other special featuresDepartment facilities: Psychotherapy Outpatient Clinic (PTA), special outpatient clinics regarding procrastination, worries, obsessive compulsions, body dysmorphic disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders; Centre for Learning, Development and Guidance (Ce.LEB), Guidance and Training for Organisations (BFO), affiliated institute: Institute "Institut für Psychologische Psychotherapieausbildung" (Institute for Psychological Psychotherapy Training, IPP), collaboration with, for example, the OCC (Otto Creutzfeldt Center).
