Special features regarding the international orientationPeriods abroad as part of ERASMUS partnerships with universities in 16 European countries and permanent cooperation with universities in the USA (e.g. Chapel Hill, NC). The German department also regularly welcomes outstanding visiting researchers who also teach, e.g. the Teach@Tübingen programme. Strong links with international research, also through Collaborative Research Centres. Inter-cultural and international MA degree course in "Inter-cultural German-French Studies" with compulsory study year in France, German-Polish transcultural studies.

Special features regarding the equipmentBoth lecture halls and the seminar rooms are equipped with fixed projector installations (some with visualiser) and were fully refurbished in summer 2018; Library catalogues are well connected across the university and externally, subject-specific databases are available in the university library and are accessible via the university network, learning platforms such as ILIAS or Timms are intensively used and are a standard part of the teaching, electronic learning modules complete the offerings.

Other special featuresGeneral study lectures from German Studies as well as student theatre groups (Brechtbau Theatre) help to merge university and city life; "Creative Writing" (in close connection with "Studio Literature and Theatre") and literary translation (Tübingen Translators' Symposium); School student laboratory; As part of the Tübingen Poetics Lectureship, two writers are invited each year to offer public lectures and special courses for students.
