Special features regarding teachingAt Bergische University, the institute has received the highest number of teaching awards, including for the development of innovative seminar and exercise formats. During the initial study phase, students benefit from advice and support offers; difficult modules are supported by tutorials. All Bachelor's and Master's students are closely involved in research and receive intensive personal support. The degree is broadly based and offers specialisation options. The clinical training takes place in the university's outpatient centre.

Special features regarding the international orientationPsychology at the Bergische University has a strong international focus. An increasing number of modules offer seminars in English. A number of strong exchange relationships are in place with universities in Europe, North America and Asia. Students have the opportunity to spend entire semesters at a partner university or complete research and vocational practicals abroad. Intensive advice and support is available for both options.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe department's working groups have experimental laboratories with modern equipment. Special methodologies are used for the analysis of complex diagnostic data and for neurocognitive testing. This includes innovative methods in the measurement and analysis of eye movements and fNIRS. In addition to an excellent university library, the institute also has a test archive, which is operated jointly with the School of Education. Students have access to the usual research tools and databases.

Other special featuresThe Wuppertal site is characterised by short distances and a close personal relationships. The Bergische University is innovative and very dynamic. This also applies to the psychology department where two new professorships will promote teaching and research in the areas of "Neurocognitive Development and Behavioural Regulation" and "Health Psychology and Applied Diagnostics". The city of Wuppertal and the Bergisches Land region have excellent transport connections and the quality of life of there excellent. Rents are comparatively low and sufficient student housing is available.
