  • Special features regarding teaching
    The department currently consists of 19 fields with specialisations in General Education, Teaching and School Research, Primary School Research as well as extra-curricular Education (Early Childhood Education, Social Education, Continuing Education). With the expansion of the university's profile in the field of empirical educational research, the department has taken up current developments within the discipline and is very compatible with research associations. This is reflected in, among other things, research-oriented teaching.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The department cooperates closely with many European and international universities under the scope of EU-funded projects (e.g. a project on the effects of early childhood education and how they vary between individual countries). In addition, there are many ERASMUS partnerships (64 partner universities) including with renowned universities such as the University of Amsterdam and the University of Copenhagen. A semester abroad, for example, is recommended to students in the third or fifth subject-related semester.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    In module 1 "Education and Learning", an online lecture is offered via e-Learning for students in the Bachelor's degree course in Education. The department also has full WiFi coverage, its own PC room and teaching rooms with fixed projectors. The classroom building also has both MAC and PC computer workstations of the main centre for data processing (ZEDAT). In addition, the central learning platform blackboard is made available to all students of the FU Berlin for teaching and learning support.

    With numerous research projects on teaching and learning conditions, early childhood education, heterogeneity, school research and empirical education research, the department is not only the fundamental discipline of the "Educational Processes and Output
