Special features regarding teachingThe degree courses encourage international and inter-disciplinary perspectives. An intensive international exchange of students and lecturers has been established via ERASMUS and in cooperation with foreign universities. BA and L students receive intensive support through tutoring programmes. Research and teaching are closely linked, especially in the Master's degree courses. A special focus is on the teaching of theoretical skills. PhD students are involved in teaching and research (e.g. co-teaching programme, lectures by PhD students).
-
Special features regarding the international orientationThe Institute of English Studies has a wide network of partner universities in English-speaking countries worldwide. The usual target countries (UK, USA, AUS, CAN) are supplemented by post-colonial locations (Sri Lanka, Ghana, Malta, Cyprus, Hong Kong), which are particularly attractive for students because of common research foci and teacher exchanges (New Englishes, post-colonial literatures). A network of universities in countries with the relevant second languages (France, Spain etc.) complements these key areas. In addition to ERASMUS+ and ERASMUS, the institute awards 6 DAAD ISAP grants.
