Special features regarding teachingThe English and American Studies institute has professorships in four core areas: Cultural Studies, Linguistics, Literature and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language), which are covered by the degree (TEFL only for teacher training). The institute is interdisciplinary with some courses being offered in cooperation with other subjects. Alternative classes (e.g. blended learning) are also offered. M.Ed. students also the have the opportunity to acquire the CLIL certificate (Content and Language Integrated Learning, bilingual teaching).
Special features regarding the international orientationThe English and American Studies institute has a growing number of partner universities and collaborations in English-speaking countries where students can spend their mandatory periods abroad. The institute also has international research and teaching links, which give students access to guest lectures, workshops for students as well as conferences with international scientists. A faculty exchange scheme is in place with partner institutions.
