Special features regarding teachingWith the sub-disciplines General Education, School Education and Social Education, Adult Education/Continuing Education and Empirical Education Research, the Tübingen Education department offers the BA course as a minor subject, the higher teaching qualification for vocational schools in Social Education/Education, the grammar school teaching qualification, the Education ancillary course and 6 Master's degree courses. Close link between theory and practice; Work placement in the Bachelor's degree course and the teaching qualification; Study project in the Master's degrees, each with sound research methods.

Special features regarding the international orientationErasmus: There are currently exchange agreements with 17 European partner universities from Amsterdam to Warsaw: http://www.uni-tuebingen.de/de/8111. There has been a fixed cooperation agreement in research and teaching with Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA for a permanent guest professor Prof. Alex W. Wiseman since 2013, English-speaking teaching at Master's level and exchange of Master's degree students. The Department of Education Studies also maintains systematic exchange relationships with the National Chi Nan University, Taiwan.

Special features regarding the equipmentAll 10 seminar rooms are equipped with projectors; there is WiFi here and in the university library. The excellent, renovated reference library which is located in the university's old auditorium right next to the institute building, has approx. 56,000 volumes, there are computer workstations and 80 student workspaces, some also for work groups. Café Rosa of the Institute is a self-organised student café – a quiet spot to talk, get advice and for student work groups. Students can meet in the institute courtyard between seminars

Other special featuresTübingen is the only university in Baden-Württemberg with broadly based education department with a long tradition. An excellent institute library with lots of student workstations. There is an institute café organised by students. Excellent regional links and partnerships are in place with adult education and social education practitioners and institutions as well as with schools. Conditions for PhD students are excellent, such as at the graduate colleges "LEAD" and "Doing transitions" in at the Tübingen School of Education.
