  • Special features regarding teaching
Students are supervised in small groups both in the exercises and in the laboratory practicals. Due to the two English-language Master's degree courses Physics and Applied Physics, many courses (also in the Bachelor's degree course) can be chosen in the scientific language English. Through annual excursions, e.g. to CERN, students are familiarized with international research activities at an early stage. Interest in research is aroused by the regular presentation of research activities in the institute.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Århus Universitet, Dänemark; Université Bordeaux I, Frankreich; Paris Orsay - Université de Paris-Sud, Frankreich; Padua - Università degli Studi di Padova 'Il Bo', Italien; Aas - Universitetet for miljø- og biovitenskap (UMB), Norwegen; Trondheim - Norges teknisk naturvitenskapelige universitet, Norwegen; Krakau - Uniwersytet Jagiellonsky, Polen; Göteborgs Universitet, Schweden; Lunds Universitet, Schweden; Universidad de Granada, Spanien; Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Spanien; Universidad de Sevilla, Spanien; University of Edinburgh, UK; Imperial College of Science, London, UK
  • Special features regarding the equipment
In addition to an engineering office and an electronics workshop, the Institute of Physics operates a large mechanical workshop (18 precision mechanics and 7 trainees), in which highly precise precision parts of all kinds are manufactured by qualified personnel. These workshops are significantly involved in the research activities of the Institute of Physics at the European Nuclear Research Centre CERN in Geneva.
  • Special features regarding research activities
Prominent participation of the Institute of Physics in the particle accelerator at CERN. Close cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institutes in Freiburg. Broad spectrum from basic research to applications.
