  • Special features regarding teaching
    The faculty offers a wide range of in-depth study opportunities in the fields of Algebra and Geometry, Analysis, Applied and Numerical Mathematics and Stochastics, which is of interest in the three Master's courses in particular. The number of possible fields of application is also large due to the wide range of courses offered at KIT. The Master's course in Business Mathematics is offered in conjunction with the Faculty of Economics. The training in the teaching qualification benefits from a very good link to schools due to the school pupil laboratory (http://www.math.kit.edu/didaktik/seite/schueler-lehrer).
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Under the Erasmus programme, there are partnerships with 24 foreign universities. In recent years, there have been exchanges with Cardiff, Stockholm, Linköping. Leuwen, Rennes and Oslo were in demand the most. In addition, there are many international collaborations on an individual level worldwide. With the École Polytechnique Palaiseau (France) there is the possibility of a double degree. The Master’s programme in Mathematics can be studied entirely in English.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The department has approx. 20 seminar rooms with projectors and whiteboards for research and teaching. Amongst these, there is also be a lecture room that is suitable for internet conferences. In addition, the faculty has two computer rooms for computer training. At the KIT students have free access to a number of mathematics software licenses (Maple, Mathlab...). All rooms are fully accessible.

  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    In recent years, over 40% of graduates of the three scientific Master’s degree programmes in Mathematics have been women. The percentage on the teaching programme was even higher. Out of the 30 professorships, six are held by women.
  • Other special features
    All faculties are located on a traditional campus, which is located near the pedestrian precinct of the city centre next to the Schlosspark. All of the institutes of mathematics are housed in the award-winning faculty building, which was renovated in 2015. In addition, it contains the excellently equipped specialist library, where 90 study places are available for students. Another 180 study areas are available in the building.
