Special features regarding the equipmentModern institute building with two large lecture theatres (each with 350 places), a number of seminar rooms and practical rooms (with 20 and 50 places), numerous seating groups in the atrium (for group work), three modern computer rooms which are accessible at any time during the building's opening hours. Further special facilities: Robotics hall, mobile robots, KUKA robots, flight lab (flight simulator), antennae for communication with department's own Pico-Satellites (UWE), immersive large-scale displays (large projection screens, CAVEs), tracking systems for the recording of movement, Roomscale-VR, High Performance Computing Cluster.
Special features regarding research activitiesThe Institute has grouped itself into four main research areas: Computing, Systems and Networks; Data Science and Artificial Intelligence; Aerospace and Robotics; Human-Centred Computing. In 2020, the Centre for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science (CAIDAS) was founded as a central institution of the University of Würzburg. In the coming months and years, it will grow to a size of 20 to 30 chairs, professorships and research groups.
