Special features regarding research activitiesThe institute is involved in a variety of research projects, such as the DFG Collaborative Research Centre "Data Assimilation", the DFG Priority Programme "Geometry at Infinity", third-party funded projects with application in the field of geoscience or pharmacology and drug development, the DAAD-funded German-French Research Training Group "Stochastic processes and statistical learning" and the institute partnership Kiev-Potsdam (financially supported by the Humboldt Foundation).

Other special featuresThe Department of Mathematics is very active in promoting women in mathematics. A thematically associated exhibition "Women of mathematics throughout Europe.
