  • Special features regarding teaching
    The students are intensively supervised in small groups during the practicals and during tutorials. In the 3rd year of study, they can specialise in the various research focus areas (Environmental Physics, Biophysics, Solid State Physics, Theoretical Physics, Applied Optics and Computer-Based Materials Science). The course is research-oriented (research-based learning).
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The department offers English-language Master’s programmes, which are mostly taken by international students. Subject-specific and interdisciplinary advice is available in multiple languages.

    Numerous laboratories as well as the Physics practical are available to the students. PC labs and the didactics lab complete this. All Physics institutes are optimally equipped with laboratories and PCs.

    Department and university cooperation in the BRIDGE alliance. Successful spin-off companies stay in contact with the department so that staff transfers are possible and first-hand start-up knowledge is available to the students.

    Suitable types of examination to meet individual needs are possible.

    The students have a so-called "Studierhaus" (study house) in which they can learn in peace. A cafeteria is also available to them. A departmental library enables simple literature research. Three lecture theatres with their multimedia equipment as well as eleven seminar rooms with modern equipment enable the excellent execution of lectures, seminars and tutorials.
