  • Special features regarding teaching
The students are intensively supervised in small groups during the practicals and during tutorials. In the 3rd Year of study, they can specialise in the various research focus areas (Environmental Physics, Biophysics, Solid State Physics, Theoretical Physics, Applied Optics and Computer-Based Materials Science). The course is research-oriented (research-based learning).
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Ocean University of China, Qingdao; University de Nantes, France; Univesity de Bordeaux, France; University Aristoteles of Thessaloniki, Greece; University of Split, Croatia; University of Latvia, Riga, Latvia; University of Leiden, Netherlands; University of Granada, Spain; University of Goteborg, Sweden; Lulea University of Technology, Sweden
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Numerous laboratories as well as the Physics practical are available to the students. PC labs and the didactics lab complete this. All Physics institutes are optimally equipped with laboratories and PCs.
  • Special features regarding research activities
Students receive an insight into the research focus areas of Bremen University: Biophysics, Solid State Physics, Environmental Physics, Applied Optics and the Theory of Dynamic Systems highlight the marked position of the university in fundamental research as well as in application-oriented and inter-disciplinary research.
  • Support for founders
The department and the university cooperate in the BRIDGE network. Successfully spun-off companies maintain contact with the faculty so that staff transfers are possible and the start-up know-how is available to students at first hand.
  • Other special features
The students have a so-called "Studierhaus" (study house) in which they can learn in peace. A cafeteria is also available to them. A departmental library enables simple literature research. Three lecture theatres with their multimedia equipment as well as eleven seminar rooms with modern equipment enable the excellent execution of lectures, seminars and tutorials.
