Special features regarding teachingSome classes are recorded and offered as part of the e-learning programme. There are tutorials and revision classes. A senior professorship in topology is being set up. Since 2017 there has been a LOEWE research unit “uniformized structures in arithmetic and geometry". The "Frankfurt MathFinance Institute" offers courses at the mathematics/finance interface (financial mathematics). Participation in the "certificate programme of teaching" ensures a didactic approach in teaching (http://www.psychologie.uni-frankfurt.de/50896099/20_zertifikationsprogramm).

Special features regarding the international orientationResearch cooperation with international partners (e.g., cooperation project with AIMS (African Institute for Mathematical Sciences) Senegal (as part of the DAAD funding programme ‘Accompanying Measures to Support the German Research Chair at the AIMS Centre Senegal – 2017-2021’). The department provides speakers for ICM 2018 (International Congress of Mathematicians) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Special features regarding the equipmentOwn library with 70,000 volumes and 176 journal subscriptions. There has been a well-developed learning centre with professorial management and scientific staff as well as student assistants since summer semester 2014. Study room/study workshop in didactics with tutorials, specialist literature, textbook collection and teaching materials.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsPart-time study options, with guidance on progression and creating an adapted programme schedule. In accordance with Article 27 reasonable adjustments (BSc/MSc study regulations): Students are granted an extension on submission dates for final dissertations. Access to the psychotherapeutic counselling service, plus a central student advice and counselling service for students with disabilities.

Characteristics of diversity advancementSupport grants from the departmental equal opportunity council. Quiet room for parents and children. Participation in equal opportunity action plan (Gender Equality & Diversity Action Plans - GEDAPs), which is drawn up every two years, in addition to the Central Equal Opportunity Action Plan (2017-2023) of the equal opportunity office.

Other special featuresA new building for the department is planned for 2022 on the scientific Riedberg Campus. The Association for the Promotion of Mathematics, which sees collaboration between alumni and sponsors, has been honouring the best Master's graduates since 2012. In addition, the sponsorship association regularly offers a lecture series for students and pupils. The labour market in the greater Frankfurt area offers Mathematics graduates very good career prospects and students attractive part-time work.
