    Special profile; only physics together with electrical engineering in one faculty at one TU; lecturers from electrical engineering ( who are physicists) involved in teaching physics = integration of external perspectives; very close mentoring programme (direct contact between professors and students), small group sizes, good personal support also through committed student council; very good study conditions due to concentration at one location.

    Stockholms Universitet; Université Montpellier 2, Science et Techniques; Universite Bordeaux; Université de Cergy-Pontoise; Nagoya University
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    High-quality equipment in all physics institutes; also shared use of the equipment of the institutes of electrical engineering (ET); new research building "LENA" (Laboratory for Emerging Nanometrology) as a measurement and analysis centre; through close cooperation with PTB and DLR on site shared use of the technology on site; various measurement & analysis equipment (also clean rooms, TEM); modern FO large-scale equipment (also shared use from ET and other facilities esp. PTB); modern student workstations with good computer facilities, including very good library with 24/7 access, new physics building in planning.

    Scientific key areas enable close cooperation with the PTB and DLR in joint projects (cf. ROSETTA), resulting in excellent opportunities e.g. in metrology projects; close integration with Electrical and Electronic Engineering (e.g. Nanosystems), resulting in excellent opportunities for doctoral candidates (also in graduate colleges); close collaboration with Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Option for applied research with industry in the region (example, VW); close links, also transregionally (HZB Berlin, IFW Dresden, PSI Switzerland), key areas in Extraterrestrial Physics.

    Physics at the TU together with the Engineering Sciences in one faculty; high proportion of Physics in all Sciences and Engineering; this ensures strong links between teaching and research.
