Support for foundersThe University of Oldenburg offers a central point of contact for prospective entrepreneurs at the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre (GIZ). It offers professional advice, including on funding, coaching and qualification, such as start-up mentoring. The Centre is supplemented by the Chair of Entrepreneurship and the junior professorship Female Entrepreneurship. The University of Oldenburg is one of the top six entrepreneur universities in Germany. The German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology awarded it this title in 2011 at the EXIST Culture of Entrepreneurship – Entrepreneur University competition
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThe Oldenburg student union provides counselling for people with disabilities in all social matters of university life, including advice, tips and information. The services relate, for example, to assistance on campus, help with finding accommodation, financing (BAföG, tuition fees, scholarships, child benefits, etc.), funding for disability-based requirements, personnel aid/assistance and coping/future prospects. The services are available to all students, prospective students and graduates as well as their relatives.
Characteristics of diversity advancementIn 2012, the University of Oldenburg was voted “Diversity University” by the Association for German Science. Eight universities across Germany were thus honoured and awarded the certificate, which was handed out for the first time.
Other special featuresClose cooperation in research and teaching with the affiliated institute OFFIS (Oldenburg Research and Development Institute for Computer Science Tools and Systems).
