Special features regarding teaching
Teaching and research of the faculty is characterised by a broad spectrum of Mathematics. Represented areas: Algebra, representation theory, Theory of Numbers, Geometry, Topology, Harmonious Analysis, Combinatorics, Applied Analysis, Numerical Mathematics, Mathematical Biology, Mathematical Physics, Theory of Probability/Stochastics, Statistics, Stochastic Analysis and Didactics of Mathematics

The faculty has its own computer laboratories which can be used by students.
Other special features
Study centre of the departmental student organisation for student joint work; Small group model: Tutorials are held in small groups of approx. 20 people under guidance of a student or academic assistant; the choice of assistant is made centrally via a tutorial commission on the basis of teaching evaluations, the tutorial leaders are qualified as part of the faculty’s own tutor training; Quality of teaching: For all courses (from 10 participants) there is an evaluation, which is published internally within the faculty
