  • Special features regarding teaching
The teaching of physics at HHU Düsseldorf is characterised by close cooperation with the other subjects of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences as well as with the Faculty of Medicine and the University Hospital. This is the basis for the interdisciplinary courses in medical physics and natural sciences and enables a wide range of minor subjects to be offered. There is close cooperation with external research institutions (e.g. German Diabetes Center, Jülich Research Center, Max Planck Institute for Iron Research) in the execution of theses.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Universität Riga, Lettland; Universität Göteborg, Schweden; Universität Dublin, Irland; Universität Athen, Griechenland; Universität Nijmegen, Niederlande; Universität Nantes, Frankreich; Universität Pozsnan, Polen; Universität Parma, Italien; Universität Iasi, Rumänien; Universität Krakau, Polen
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Numerous large-scale research facilities e.g. computing clusters, quantum optic apparatus, Helium cryostats, high-performance laser systems; access to large-scale research establishment in Jülich, in particular in the fields Plasma Physics and Soft Matter.
  • Special features regarding research activities
The research activities focus on plasma physics (in particular laser plasma physics), soft matter, quantum optics and quantum information, solid state and nanophysics, and biophysics/medical physics. There are four joint professorships with Forschungszentrum Jülich and one with DLR Cologne. Students can profit, both during the course of studies as well as in subsequent doctoral studies, from the diverse nationally and internationally funded research projects.
  • Support for founders
