Special features regarding teachingThe WWU Münster has a long tradition in mathematical teaching and research. Students of mathematics benefit from a broad and intensive mathematical education by about 40 professors of mathematics. A dedicated Learning Center provides bachelor's students with additional support outside of regular classes. Our English Master's degree course offers very flexible choices from eleven different specialisations and various interdisciplinary courses and introduces students individually to ongoing research.

Special features regarding research activitiesThe Cluster of Excellence in Mathematics with its three main research areas - Arithmetic and Groups, Spaces and Operators, Models and Approximations - and the Collaborative Research Centre Deformations and Rigidity combine Münster's strengths in a broad range of areas in theoretical and applied mathematics, and they further intensify the exchange between traditionally specialised disciplines. Mathematicians from Münster have already been awarded four Leibniz Prizes, an Alexander von Humboldt Professorship, two ERC Grants and a Max Planck Research Award.
