Special features regarding teachingAn "open door" policy and short distances contribute to a family atmosphere on campus. Especially in the masters degree there is a very high degree of freedom in the choice of courses, which allows individual pursuit of interests. Broad spectrum of subjects at the department and thus a view beyond the professional horizon is possible. Time slots for stays abroad allow for uninterrupted study abroad, e.g. at the more than 30 Erasmus partner universities throughout Europe.

Computer Science: Cloud infrastructure for machine learning and data mining; vehicles with driver assistance systems for mobile systems engineering.

Special features regarding research activitiesResearch groups with different backgrounds at the faculty work together in an interdisciplinary way (also with other departments). The Department of Computer Science is involved in two of four research priorities across the university, but also has its own research priorities (e.g., Data Intelligence). In addition to basic research, there is also a lot of applied research in good cooperation with local, national and international companies, administration and politics.

Support for foundersThe University of Koblenz-Landau has been awarded the title EXIST-Gründerhochschule by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. It offers workshops, consultations, labs and events on the topic of start-ups (brainstorming, financing, law and much more). Courses related to entrepreneurship are offered. Results of own research for entrepreneurship are incorporated into the teaching. Cooperation with the Technology Centre Koblenz (200 meters away as the crow flies), which promotes the exchange of science and research and offers inexpensive offices for young companies.
