Support for foundersThe University of Koblenz-Landau was named by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as an EXIST Entrepreneur University. It offers workshops, advisory services, laboratories and events relating to the topic of business start-ups (generating ideas, funding, law etc.). Courses are available on various aspects of entrepreneurship. Results from its own research on entrepreneurship are incorporated in teaching. Cooperation with the Technologie-Zentrum Koblenz (TKZ, 200 metres away), which promotes exchange between science and research and offers affordable office space for young companies.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsReasonable adjustments for disabilities are incorporated in the examination regulations: Longer time allowed for course and examination performance or different but equivalent forms of examination that are better suited to the students’ situation.

Characteristics of diversity advancementInternational Master’s degree programme with students of over 20 nationalities. Welcome Center offering support for international students and staff members and opportunities for cultural exchange. Ada Lovelace project to promote girls and women in the STEM degree programmes at the university. Women’s office to promote and support female junior scientists (doctoral candidates, postdocs). Six out of 21 professorships in the Department of Computer Science are held by women. Computational Visualistics and Web Science have a 30% quota of women.
