Special features regarding teachingThe Department of Bioinformatics of the Institute of Computer Science is closely linked to the German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research (iDiv) Halle-Jena-Leipzig. This has led to a wide range of international collaborations, which have a strong influence on both research and teaching at the Institute. In the field of computer science, the institute has, among others, a focus on computer science in the humanities (eHumanities). For example, students in the Master's degree course can specialise in the field of "eHumanities" and choose Text and Edition Studies as an applied subject.

A special feature is the focus on eHumanities with its diverse, actively practised cooperations with, for example, Ancient German Studies, Ancient History, European Enlightenment, Greek Studies, German Studies, Indology, Japanese Studies, Jewish Studies and Romance Studies.
