Exchange universities for stay abroadsUni Leuven, Belgien; Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile, Frankreich; Univ. Marie Curie - Paris 6, Frankreich; TU Milano, Italien; Orta Dogu Technical University, Türkei; Belarusian State University Minsk, Belarus; Univesidad EAFIT Medellin, Kolumbien; Universidade Federal de Uberlandia, Brasilien; Universidad National de Trujillo, Peru; National United University, Taiwan
Special features regarding the equipmentWiFi on campus; online access to scientific literature (ebooks, electronic journals) and to the mathematical departmental database MathSciNet of the university library on campus and from home; in addition to central computer labs, there are 2 faculty-owned computer labs with 20 and 5 workstations, respectively, where subject-specific software such as Magma, Maple, Matlab, R and SPSS are available; access to mathematical software also from home. If necessary, students can borrow laptops.
Special features regarding research activitiesAt the faculty, research is carried out in cooperation with many international partners. The faculty is very successful in attracting national and international third-party funding. Interested students will be included in research projects at an early stage There are numerous doctoral opportunities, for example in the DFG graduate college MathCoRe. The faculty cooperates closely with non-university research institutions in Magdeburg, e.g. Max Planck Institute for Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems (Magdeburg), Leibniz Institute for Neurosciences.
Other special featuresFor freshers, there are also additional guidance and support services from MatheSupport (students in later semesters are available every day as contacts to deal with subject-specific questions relating to the courses) and a mentoring programme for freshers (student initiative of the departmental student organisation). “What is... ": Seminar in which scientists explain basic terms and phrases from their field of specialisation. "Pi is exactly 3": Math Podcast.
