    Research-oriented teaching through a research project (participation in a working group) as part of the Master's degree course. Formation of individual study emphases through regularly revised master's programmes. Interdisciplinary study opportunities through numerous application areas within CAU.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    The entire campus is equipped with WiFi. The institute has several generally accessible computer rooms. One of these rooms is intended as a student workroom only. The others can be used if they are not occupied for courses. In all of these rooms there is HP ThinClients together with the software and electricity and network connections used in the basic education. Labs for special applications are also available to the work groups for research and teaching, such as databases, multimedia, FPGA, model railways, real time systems.
  • Special features regarding research activities
    Key areas in Algorithms and Systems Engineering; inter-disciplinary character, including participation in the clusters of excellence and the Graduate School, as well as cooperation with the Leibniz Information Centre for Economics as well as the Software Systems Engineering skills network; close links with neighbouring subject areas, such as Business Informatics on the one hand and Scientific Computing/Practical Mathematics on the other.
  • Support for founders
    Centre for Entrepreneurship of the university in which members of the faculty are involved on different levels and with different offers. Participation of the department members in other offers of the university as well as the neighbouring science park. Cooperation with the Cluster Management Digital Economy Schleswig-Holstein.

    Close contact between teaching staff and students; very active departmental student organisation; specially developed quality assurance process for teaching; many contacts with regional industry; university location with attractive recreational opportunities.
