Special features regarding research activitiesThe department is integrated in terms of personnel and research into the BioMedTec Sciences campus, which enables highly inter-disciplinary research, development and technology transfer. There is close cooperation with the Natural Sciences and Medicine, various third-party-funded projects, both in fundamental research and application areas, prototype development in labs, competence centres as well as a graduate school with a focus on Computing for the Life Sciences.

Support for foundersThe University of Lübeck is one of a small number of EXIST start-up universities, an award granted by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. The GründerCube is located in the centre of the Lübeck campus and serves as a central coordination and advice centre for all start-up issues. The Institute for Entrepreneurship and Business Development is located here and the Lübeck Chamber of Commerce and Industry has established a demand-oriented branch office here. Together we bundle our competences and offers in the field of self-employment and business start-up for our students.
