Special features regarding teachingIn the fifth semester of the Bachelor's degree course, there is the opportunity for specialisation in a key area of the department. In a beginner's project practical (Bachelor's), students can experiment freely and work on a topic of their choice. In the Master's degree course, the project practical offers student the possibility of working on three projects in different work groups.

Special features regarding the international orientationInternational study course with the possibility of specialisation in atmospheric physics, experimental and theoretical particle and astroparticle physics, material physics and statistical physics; Possibility of Bachelor and Master theses in cooperation with major international research institutions (CERN, DESY, IceCube, Pierre Auger Observatory, ILL Grenoble, Forschungszentrum Jülich).

Other special featuresIndividual study-integrated supervision of the students. Large number of guest scholars and speakers. Close cooperation with Forschungszentrum Jülich in the fields of theoretical particle physics and atmospheric physics with joint professorships according to the Jülich model.
