Dundalk Institute of Technology, Irland; Northumbria University Newcastle, Großbritannien; Edinburgh Napier University, Großbritannien; Universite Lumiere Lyon, Frankreich; Universidad Politecnica de Valencia, Spanien; Transilvania University Brasov, Rumänien; FH Oberösterreich Hagenberg, Österreich
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The IT department has its own modern PC pools with 40 PC workstations and additional workplaces for students working on their own laptops. There are additional high-desk workplaces (team work) as well as a range of project and work rooms. There are new laboratories for games engineering, virtual reality (100qm), diagnostic and therapeutic systems as well as for image and biosignal processing. The department also has the latest hardware (some of which prototypes) for wearable computing (e.g. (augmented reality) data glasses).
  • Support for founders
The Faculty of Computer Science has set out to intensify its work on business start-ups. Services are directed towards students but also to staff members of the faculty. The students/staff members receive specialist advice on their projects from a professor in the faculty. The entrepreneurship section of the university’s research division accompanies the actual start-up process
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
The university has officers for students with permanent health impairments. These students are encouraged to apply for reasonable adjustments, where it makes sense to do so. The faculty’s examination board reviews and approves such applications wherever formally possible.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
The “Applied Informatics” and “Medical Informatics” programmes have an unusually high proportion of female students on account of the subject matter and/or main areas of study. The "Software Engineering and Management" programme recruits around 75% of its students from outside the EU. Master’s students are encouraged to take part in research projects, for example within their final dissertations. These people make up a large proportion of the staff members of the faculty.
