Special features regarding teachingProject-based learning in many courses. Increasing abolition of examinations, instead assessment by semester-long performances. Strong practical relevance through lecturers from industry, projects involving industry. Around 80% of final theses completed in cooperation with the industry.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe IT faculty has its own, modernly equipped PC pools with a total of 40 PC workstations and additional workstations for students to work with their own notebooks. In addition, there are highdesk workstations (teamwork) as well as a number of project and work rooms. There are new laboratories for games engineering, virtual reality (100 sqm), usability, diagnosis and therapy systems as well as for image and biosignal processing. Furthermore, the faculty has the latest hardware (partly prototypes) in the field of wearable computing (e.g. (augmented reality) data glasses).
Special features regarding research and developmentThe IT faculty holds a leading position at the university in the acquisition of third-party funding, publications and research projects. The Faculty of IT has 3 research institutes (GECKO, UniTyLab, ZML) and provides the speaker of the research focus Human-Technology-Interaction (21 professors from 14 universities in Baden-Württemberg) at the Baden-Württemberg Centre of Applied Research. Currently, funded research projects are carried out in the areas of autonomous driving, virtual reality, health economics, process management, e-learning and deep learning.
Support for foundersThe Faculty of Computer Science has set itself the goal of intensifying the topic of business start-ups. The offer is aimed at students, but also at employees of the faculty. The students/employees are supervised by a professor in their projects within the faculty. The start-up process itself is supervised by the start-up department within the university's research department
