Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
The department offers double degree opportunities at Bachelor/Master level with various international universities. In addition, each year 8-10 international guest lecturers in the "Internationalisation@home" programme supplement the curricula in the elective area. Teaching is very diverse and practice oriented. Teaching methods such as "inverted classroom" or "just-in-time-teaching" have their place, as well as seminar-style teaching with and without video recording, and exercises, practicals and tutorials offered for almost all modules.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Finnland; Waterford Institute of Technology, Irland; TU Dublin, Irland; Karlsuniversität, Prag; Tallinn University of Technology, Estland; Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), Malaysia; Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST), Vietnam; Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapur; Eastern Institute of Technology, Neuseeland; Hong Kong Baptist University, China
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The faculty has 7 computer rooms and 21 very well equipped teaching and project laboratories. The project laboratories are assigned to individual main topics and are mostly equipped with special software related to the subject and course of study. A cyclical renewal of the computer equipment takes place every 3 years, as well as the acquisition of current software licenses. The "remote labs" of the faculty serve as a special offer for the students.
  • Special features regarding research and development
The faculty attaches great importance to applied research, which is very often carried out in cooperation with regional and national companies. The core cells of the research work are the laboratories of the faculty. At present, there are a number of third-party funded projects at the faculty that are directly financed by companies as well as publicly funded projects (state, federal, EU). Examples include work on image processing in medical diagnostics, research into networks in vehicles and projects to detect attacks on computer networks.
  • Support for founders
The Start-UP Centre of the OTH Regensburg supports students, graduates and research assistants in founding companies. Support with the foundation path: Drawing up a business plan, pointing out financing options and funding programmes, finding network partners. Lecturers at the department are significantly involved in the Management Cup Bavaria: Participating students, in team work and as “entrepreneurs/executives”, learn and experience economic thinking and actions and how companies function in competition.
  • Other special features
The faculty moved into a new faculty building in spring 2018 with modern lecture hall and laboratory facilities, as well as spacious communication zones and learning islands for students. The central location of the new building on the campus of the OTH Regensburg as well as the immediate proximity to the refectory and library create an optimal study environment.
