    Through inter-disciplinary and multi-institution collaboration, state-of-the-art teaching materials (e.g. models, robots, sensor technology and devices, 3D printers, AR and VR glasses, different prototypes, etc.) are available in teaching and research laboratories. These are maintained and constantly optimised by qualified laboratory assistants.

  • Support for founders
    The department’s start-up mentors (two professors) are integrated into the regional competence network gründen@würzburg, which includes the City of Würzburg, the Innovation and Start-Up Centre (IGZ), the Technology and Start-Up Centre (TGZ), the university, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as investment-ready companies. Regular events include entrepreneurs’ informal gatherings, a social media business lounge or the Startup City as part of the Mobile Media Day. The “Management of digital innovations” specialisation focuses on aspects of setting up a business in the 6th and 7th semester.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    There are various advisory services and contacts for students with disabilities or chronic illness all over the university. The department’s buildings provide barrier-free access to lecture halls, administrative areas, library and laboratories. Wheelchair-accessible lifts and handicapped toilets are in place. There are basic facilities available for the visually impaired, such as lifts with announcements and texts in Braille, powerful projectors.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    Across the university and also at the department, there are various efforts being undertaken to increase the share of international students and staff members (for details, refer to Internationalisation). For example, students and staff with children are offered a mobile playroom (KidsBox), bring-your-kid-to-school days on school holidays and a nursing room. The department is involved in women’s advancement programmes, such as “Women in Lecture Halls” or MINT mentor programmes.
