  • Special features regarding teaching
Students should study individually as far as possible, and the content is continuously adapted to new developments. This means, for example, that the curricula in the compulsory area only contain content that is absolutely necessary. As the degree course progresses, the options become more and more extensive and the forms of teaching more and more project-based. We support the students through a fine-meshed mentoring concept.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Dundalk Institute of Technology, Irland; Tallinn Technical University, Estland; Izmir Institute of Technology, Türkei; Ege-University, Türkei; UPM Madrid, Spanien; OsloMet, Norwegen; Via University College, Dänemark; University of Wisconsin System, USA; University of Massachusetts System, USA; Deutsch-Jordanische Universität (GJU), Jordanien
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Information technology is growing rapidly. With the construction of a second IT building in 2006, the spatial situation was greatly improved. Our buildings are broadband networked and connected to the science network. High-performance WiFi is available throughout the IT sector. In the area of computer infrastructure, we have been relying on virtualisation for years, so that we can freely scale the required demand. In the area of individual supply of computer hardware, we are increasingly relying on "Bring Your Own Device", but still maintain computer rooms.
  • Special features regarding research and development
In recent years, three institutes have been founded in the faculty to bundle research activities: Institute of Technology and Computer Science (Area: Engineering Computer Science), Institute of Program Architectures (Area: Computer Science), Institute of Information Sciences (interdisciplinary area). This is where mainly the internal final theses are supervised, but increasingly also projects within the framework of funding programmes are created and processed.
  • Support for founders
There are now a number of SPIN-OFFs that have emerged from development work by the department.
  • Other special features
The THM is one of the largest technical universities in Germany, the department "MNI" is the largest department of the THM. This results in an extremely broad range of specialist and interdisciplinary services. The B.Sc. programme in Psychology will begin for the first time in the winter semester 2017/18. Social Media Systems is the first course of study in Germany to combine IT with management and media/communication sciences or design and brings humanities aspects into all our courses of study. Due to the semester mode of operation, a flexible entry and individual time organisation of all our courses of study is possible.
