Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
Two areas of focus for computer science are worth a special mention: the handling of large amounts of data, their collection, storage and retrieval, for example as an internet application, as well as the design of "hidden" computers, the so-called "embedded systems", in machines and equipment. Mathematics preparatory courses are available for the course. In addition to the attendance courses, online courses of study are also offered.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The Faculty of Computer Science has a total of 15 well-equipped computer rooms and labs, in which the students can both carry out supervised exercises and work independently, partly even at weekends.
  • Other special features
Learning coaching can help in the event of problems during the course. The basic fundamentals can be trained in the Mathe Café and Computer Science Lounge, supplementing the compulsory courses. There are several active student associations, in particular the Ostfalia Cup (self-controlled vehicles), the RoboCup (household and football robots which have already won the world championships twice).
