Special features regarding teachingAccompanying practicals/exercises for intensive engagement with the teaching content. Various types of projects prepare students for various aspects of professional work. A software is developed together in a manageable project group. Project management is practised in the process. During the project work, the software development process is tested and then in the practical phase, operational practice. Additional support courses are regularly offered to balance out overly large differences in performance at least in part.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe laboratory equipment of the individual disciplines is continuously modernised to a high level. Various special laboratories/good infrastructure. Against the background of special educational requirements, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Computer Science runs its own independent computer centre. Expert support is ensured through the department's own IT specialists (who have the qualifications Diplom Engineers/Diplom Computer Scientists). They supervise the department's four PC rooms with a total of 70 workstations.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department comprises various research institutes. It is possible to participate in further research activities of the FB Technik. Current key areas of research include: Energy efficiency in production, knowledge transfer, logistics, energy and environmental engineering, industrial informatics, university didactics, e-learning. Current topics include: Intelligent validation of driver assistance systems through information enhancement, sensor technology and applications, cyber physical systems and IT security.

Support for foundersThe Central Office for Knowledge and Research Transfer provides general information and information on funding options. Opportunity to participate in the seminar on business start-ups with external lecturers. Special courses on the topic by the internal Centre for Further Education. Networking with the city of Emden (business incubator) and the “Ems axis” regarding the subjectand associations (VDE/VDI).

Other special featuresThe university in Emden offers short distances on an attractive campus. There are course-specific activities that create a real sense of group membership among students. Interdisciplinary student projects (e.g. solar boat, headwind vehicle, Hyperloop) offer opportunities for practical knowledge transfer, teamwork, participation in fun competitions. A comprehensive programme of university sports and sponsored activities to increase the attractiveness of the place of study (MyCampus/Fachschaften/AStA) contribute to student satisfaction.
