  • Special features regarding teaching
Bachelor's: In the course, a broad knowledge of the basics of Business Administration is taught, which is complemented and expanded upon in selected lectures with practical and Excel-based exercises. A proportion of the course relates to Computer Science, in line with what is expected of business school graduates today. The fifth semester is defined as a compulsory semester abroad, which is agreed individually with the IO. Master's: The course is tailored for contents and methods from Strategic Management and links them by way of four alternative specialisations, with practical references throughout.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
An important feature of the Bachelor's is the compulsory semester abroad at one of several partner universities in Europe, North/South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand or Africa (network of around 30 partner universities). Occasionally, international visiting professors are integrated into the curriculum. Selected courses are taught in English, with the participation of incoming students. A semester abroad may be completed also in the Master’s programme, with the additional option of completing a dual degree.
  • Common partner universities for exchange
Uni Skövde, Sweden; Haaga-Helia, Finland; Gloucestershire, Great Britain; Napier University, Great Britain; UIC-Barcelona, Spain; University of Vilnius, Lithuania; University of Dogus, Turkey
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Five computer rooms with high-quality equipment for students, with 120 workstations and a range of servers, connection to the SAP CC at Universität Magdeburg (ERP training), a variety of software licences in the applied area of Business Informatics, high performance laboratory for Network Engineering, WiFi connection to the university network across the entire university building, lecture theatres and seminar rooms with modern presentation technology, including electronic whiteboards.
  • Special features regarding research and development
Focus on teaching activities, as a result only a limited amount of research is carried out, however as part of the Master's thesis, applied research is carried out in the four fields of specialisation without fail; outstanding Bachelor's and Master's theses are honoured. Including Final theses on the impact of diversity on boards of directors, supervisory boards and performance parameters (e.g. financial performance, CSR performance); Application of Service Dominant Logic in companies; Industry 4.0 services.

  • Support for founders
The FH Wedel wants to act as a guide and promoter for new companies. It offers a special programme to support start-ups, which includes courses on entrepreneurship (lean start-up) and intrapreneurship, as well as practical courses (lean start-up workshop). The FH Wedel provides assistance in the preparation of business plans, an option for using the university's facilities in the early phase of a start-up, information, advice, contacts and infrastructure (e.g. smart lab) for quick prototyping.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons

The FH Wedel is a small, flexible institution; In the past, for example, satisfactory special arrangements were found on the spot for hearing or visually impaired students with respect to exams, seminars and lectures.
  • Other special features
Corporate advisory council, current topics are discussed with company representatives as to how far these are to be integrated into the curriculum.
