Special features regarding teachingUnder the motto "we develop talent", students are offered a wide range of options for developing their individual profile as an engineer. In addition, the course is characterised by practice-oriented and project-related teaching. International experience can also be gained, either through an international branch of study or through individually designed stays abroad. Lecture courses taken abroad are recognised.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationThe Faculty trains for the requirements of a job in international industrial companies. As such, the emphasis is on foreign language skills and, above all in economic sciences, the international dimension of the work in the field, supplemented by the option to study abroad at one of currently around 65 partner universities and/or practical semesters abroad. The credits to be achieved abroad are discussed in advance and thus recognised without any problems.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThere is an unusually broad range of laboratories available to industrial engineers thanks to the integration into the inter-disciplinary Faculty of Technology and Management as well as collaboration with the related faculties of Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering. These range from labs for Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, to Quality, System Engineering and Market Research labs. Depending on the selected profile areas, the laboratories are planned into the course schedule.
-
Special features regarding research and developmentProfessors are active in research and the transfer of technology through the Institute for Applied Research and the Steinbeis transfer centres, which guarantees that up to date, practical knowledge is taught.

Support for foundersThrough the expansion of its cooperation with Fraunhofer INT and the ESC Troyes, the Faculty has laid the foundation for the targeted promotion of start-ups. In cooperation with Regional Economic Development and the Steinbeis network, specific work is currently under way on institutional expansion, which is to help entrepreneurs on their way to innovative independence.
-
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsIn the past, the Faculty was very open and flexible especially on the integration of visually impaired students, and was able to accommodate such students’ desire to go to university. To this end, a flexible system was introduced, including structuring of the timetables to allow for external companions for students, particularly where exams were concerned, in order to make up for the student’s limitations.
