Special features regarding the international orientationCooperation with over 140 partner universities worldwide. Double degree (Bachelor of Honors) from Napier University Edinburgh. International workshop for MBA students, Hanzehoge School Groningen. 2 foreign officers (professors) support the students with all questions about studying abroad. Information and advice from the HFU International Centre. Financial support and scholarships. 6-Flex and 7-Up: flexible study programmes at foreign universities. Special features regarding the equipmentCase study lecture hall with 8 work islands for 6 students each; CAD laboratory (PTC Creo, SolidWorks, etc.); 2 electronic classrooms (24 or 12 seats); Electrical Engineering laboratory and Physics laboratory; Robotics laboratory (including Scara and BRO robots); Optics laboratory (including use of the FRED optics simulation tool); usability laboratory in HD quality with Eye Tracking; Service laboratory, Certified Mixed Reality laboratory; Innovation laboratory technology (small groups, tests, mechanical workshop, 3D printing / scanning, LabView etc.); Media laboratory (with professional film production workstations); Marketing laboratory under construction.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe established research areas of usability and technical documentation of the Faculty of Industrial Engineering were systematically supplemented by Service Engineering, Robotics and Electromobility. This is reflected in several publicly funded projects with significant WING participation. With its modern laboratories, the WING faculty offers a well-equipped basis for projects with industrial partners. The faculty is currently expanding its research to include topics from the following areas: Lightweight Construction, Optical Sensors, Market Research, Industry 4.0, Sustainability and Mobility.

Support for foundersOne of the strategic goals of the Furtwangen University is to support student business start-ups. The Faculty of Industrial Engineering is an essential support and driver in doing so. The contact person at the HFU location in Furtwangen is WING Professor Dr. Bernhard Plum. The offer for students includes information events, workshops, advice, lectures and support for start-ups.

Other special featuresRobert-Schäflein-Armbruster, WING professor and Vice Rector for Teaching at HFU, is responsible for the HFU program for top athletes as Rectorate Officer: Around 20 members of national teams study at the HFU, about half of them at the WING faculty. The flexible study conditions for top athletes are anchored in the study and examination regulations. The cooperation partner is the Olympic base Freiburg-Black Forest. Students and alumni include Olympic champions, world champions and numerous national champions.
