Special features regarding teachingThe Industrial Engineering course with specialisation in Electrical Energy Engineering at RWTH sets itself apart with an engineering specialisation in Electrical Energy Engineering that is pursued from the start of the course. This means that in terms of Electrical Energy Engineering, graduates of the course are practically at the level of an Engineer in this specialisation area. Combined with the Economics content, the degree course offers a very comprehensive academic education.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe Faculty is a member of T.I.M.E. Association for the implementation of international dual-degree programmes. As such, it offers dual degrees with 10 partner universities. In addition, the Faculty has numerous ERASMUS+ agreements as well as special agreements with 5 other universities in Asia and South America for the exchange of students and teachers. The Faculty is involved in numerous partnership agreements with international universities that the university maintains.

Special features regarding the equipmentLaboratory practicals are an integral and important part of the course. They offer students the opportunity to use their own experiments to process the course content in a practical and clear manner and apply their knowledge creatively. The laboratories are supervised by individual chairs or jointly by several chairs and are under constant development. The simulation systems analysis is one of the most important tools of the future industrial engineer. Every chair has its own state-of-the-art IT equipment, without which it would not be possible to carry out research to this high standard.
Special features regarding research activitiesSustainable and climate-neutral energy supply and mobility are only possible through massive electrification in almost all areas. Our aim is to be able to identify and implement optimal solutions both from an overall system perspective and from the development of the necessary components. This includes competencies in electrical systems for AC and DC transmission and distribution networks, power electronics, storage as well as communication and digitalisation technologies for a safe, resilient and inexpensive energy supply.

Other special featuresPossible careers for BSc graduates. Graduates are involved in operational tasks that focus on the Msc. Graduates mainly in the scientific and strategic area of companies. Because they have a double qualification, graduates work at the interface between technology and economics; as all-rounders with a good overview, they are at home in either field. Their dual training makes them employable in a range of positions; they are also able to absorb a range of perspectives and to convey these to participants in the corresponding fields.
