  • Special features regarding teaching
Industrial Engineering is a modern engineering subject and combines classic Mechanical Engineering with the theory and models of Economics. In the degree course in Industrial Engineering with a specialisation in Mechanical Engineering, students acquire skills and expertise in Engineering as well as Economics. This inter-disciplinary education enables them to work in technical, economic and inter-disciplinary fields after their degree (e.g. tasks in overlapping areas between Technology and Economics).
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Industrial Engineering students, Mechanical Engineering specialisation, have many options to add an international component to their studies. They can take advantage of university partnerships of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and those of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Accordingly, the stay abroad can be designed quite individually: From work placement abroad and ERASMUS semester to dual Master’s programmes.
  • Common partner universities for exchange
Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Spain; Istanbul Teknik Üniversitesi, Turkey; Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan (KTH), Sweden; Universidade Técnica de Lisboa, Portugal; Politechnika Warszawska, Poland; University of Technology in Delft, Netherlands; Politecnico di Milano, Italy; Imperial College, United Kingdom; École Centrale Paris, France; Aalto University, Finland
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The various institutes at RWTH Aachen have a wide range of technical equipment that is used in research and development. Students are given the opportunity to work with these machines as part of their academic work and their work as a research assistant. In addition, computer pools are available to all RWTH Aachen students at various locations to be used freely and with no charge. University WiFi is also available.
  • Special features regarding research activities
RWTH Aachen offers its Bachelor's students a structured research programme that is unique in Germany; UROP promotes the early development of academic skills and opens up the path to academia. Participation in an UROP project is often the starting point for a career in research. In accordance with research-focused teaching, RWTH involves its students in research projects and incorporates the research activities of its academics into teaching.

The university is therefore especially committed to the special requirements of students with disabilities or chronic illness. From barrier-free access for lecture halls and facilities to rest rooms as well as competent and individual advisory services.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
Talented students, researchers and employees are to be supported as best as possible, regardless of personal characteristics such as gender, age, origin, skin colour, religion, disability or sexual orientation, and they are to be able to work, research and study together. With the establishment of the Integration Team - Human Resources, Gender and Diversity Management (IGAD) office, the signing of the Diversity Charter and the implementation of numerous projects to promote equal opportunities, active measures have already been taken in this regard.
