Special features regarding teachingTeaching is a top priority for us. The transition from school to university is supported, for example through exercises in small groups and supplementary offers (introductory courses etc.). In the Bachelor's programme, the essential basic knowledge and associated methods and problem solving skills are taught. The Master's programme is aimed at an individual research specialisation. Project-based learning provides insight into the future world of work and trains team skills and goal orientation. Stays abroad are possible without loss of time.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationThe ET&IT institute offered the successful international degree course "Digital Communications" for many years. For the winter semester 2019/20, it was replaced by the new international Master's programme "Electrical Engineering and Information Technology". Students have the option - in addition to the specialisation "Digital Communications" - to choose other specialisations. The large number of English-language Master modules also offers Erasmus students the best prerequisites for spending a semester at the University of Kiel.
-
Exchange universities for stay abroadsTU Wien, Österreich; Universidad de Sevilla, Spanien; Université de Paris Sud, Frankreich; Université de Bretagne, Frankreich; University of Manchester, UK; University of Stockholm, Schweden; Politecnico di Bari, Italien; National Technical University of Athens, Griechenland; Universidade de Aveiro, Portugal.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThe grounds of the Engineering Faculty are also home to the Kiel Nano lab, in which groups from the Institute for Materials Science as well as Electrical Engineering and Information Technology research the field of Nano Systems Technology. There have been a number of new appointments in recent semesters and as part of this a large proportion of the institute's equipment has been replaced. In the coming years, a new research building for the center for networked sensor systems and a new lecture hall building including a library area will be built on the Faculty's Ostufer campus.
-
Special features regarding research activitiesThe Institute of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is involved in the research focus areas "Information Engineering" and "Nanosystems Engineering", in collaborative research centres and clusters of excellence of Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, as well as in external competence centres. In addition to the aforementioned areas of research, there is a special interest in the following areas of application: renewable energies, biomedical systems and maritime systems.
-
Support for foundersThe Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Christian-Albrechts-University in Kiel (http://www.zfe.uni-kiel.de/de) supports students, researchers and graduates on their way to independence. Together with the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Kiel as well as Kiel Economic Development, seminars on Entrepreneurship are offered, for example. Apart from this, the Centre of Entrepreneurship provides support, for example, in the choice of appropriate funding options for personal projects and in applications for funding.
-
Other special featuresThe courses take place partly on the main campus of the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel (west bank of the fjord), partly on the east bank campus of the Faculty of Technology (east bank of the fjord). A special bus service has been set up to enable students and staff to move between different campus locations.
