Special features regarding teachingCollaboration with the specialist disciplines as part of the synoptic treatment approach; Short referrals between cons. and prosthetics, integrated treatment planning in the 1st clinical course. Integration of digital dentistry (optical impression systems, chairside production of restorations) + implant prosthetics in the clinical courses. Students participation in clinical studies. Qualification profiles in digital dentistry + implants and implant prosthetics. Intensive use of digital media + learning for preclinical and clinical training. Modern teaching concepts (case-based, sim. patients etc.) and examination formats (OSCE)
Special features regarding the international orientationThe Dentistry programme in Aachen has three faculty partner universities as part of ERASMUS+ for study visits and one in Brazil, with a focus on research stays. Dentistry students can use the places at the partner universities of the university for study or research. Students can obtain specific information on this. Medical traineeships are mostly completed through projects of in-house lecturers in developing countries and are financed by a DAAD travel allowance.

Characteristics of diversity advancementTANDEMmed, TANDEMpeerMED and TANDEMplusMED are mentoring programmes which have now become established as an effective instrument in personnel development and promoting young scientists. They are used very specifically to attract and retain young female scientists in particular at various stages of their academic career development. All the TANDEM programmes are based on the Mentoring-Training-Networking modules and are part of a framework programme.
