Special features regarding teaching
The medical school has appointed an international officer. This allows students wanting to go abroad to get together with former students in order to coordinate details of the partner universities with regard to curricula, specifics, accommodation and leisure activities before they depart. In addition, we started to visit partner universities in order to present Bochum transparently and to point out the special features of the many associated clinics.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
the buildings of the RUB and the Medical Faculty are completely accessible, the autopsy tables in the newly constructed dissecting rooms are height-adjustable, the audio systems in the lecture theatres are equipped for students with hearing impairment, the Akademisches Förderungswerk has a comprehensive range of technical equipment and staff support for people with vision impairment and students with physical disabilities
Characteristics of diversity advancement
The Medicine degree programme is subject to the NRW Regulation on the Award of Public Contracts (Vergabeverordnung NRW), 5% of places are therefore reserved for non-EU foreign nationals and stateless applicants;
Other special features
As the only faculty in Germany, Bochum has a clinic which is privately funded. Advantages: Full cost transparency and cost separation for health care or research and teaching; Particularly hands-on instruction of students on cases from both standard care and maximum medical care; Orientation of the degree programme to the new requirement profiles of the medical profession by incorporating ethical, social and economic aspects as well as teaching communicative competencies
