Special features regarding teachingWe value lively interaction and appreciation between learners and teachers. Small group teaching promotes exchange among colleagues. In the A² Mentoring Program, students can be accompanied by experienced mentors on their way to becoming a doctor. The university and the university hospital are united on one campus. The students benefit from the short distances, in the centre of which the O.A.S.E. is located: The modern learning and communication centre for medical professionals includes workstations, e-learning and consultation rooms as well as the specialist library.

Arrangements of special exercises at the departmentSpace for hands-on training and courses is available to faculty and students in the Core Medical Skills Training Centre. In addition to the opportunity for free practice on mannequins and equipment, the Training Centre offers many voluntary courses facilitated by student tutors and its own elective courses. This allows students to prepare for the real clinical context in a relaxed atmosphere. The clinical traineeship course and the clinical-practical part of the intermediate medical examination also take place here with the use of acting patients.

Special features regarding research activitiesThe scientific profile of the faculty is characterized by the close interlocking of basic and applied research as well as by interdisciplinary, inter-faculty and inter-location cooperation. The research focus is on cardiovascular research as well as molecular and clinical hepatology, which is also distinguished by a DFG Collaborative Research Centre. With graduate colleges and research schools in the fields of cardiovascular research, hepatology, oncology, neurosciences and infectiology, we promote young scientists.

Other special featuresAs one of the largest medical faculties in Germany, we have combined proven and new concepts in a modern model course of study. The Dean's Office and the Dean of Studies as well as the subject representatives and the Medical Student Council are actively involved in the design and further development of the Düsseldorf Medical Curriculum. The excellent cooperation is also reflected in the joint use of the O.A.S.E.. The eight-storey building has not only become home to the students, it also provides space for exchange within the overall development.
