  • Special features regarding teaching
The attainment of medical competence is to be achieved through the teaching of professional, scientific and social or personal competence. Although the curriculum continues to be oriented towards the specialist disciplines, central courses are interdisciplinary and problem- or case-based. The "professional competence" dimension is supported by two interlocking teaching-learning spirals: "Clinical Reasoning" and "Clinical Skills". Teaching is constantly being further developed by the Chair of Medical Didactics, Medical Teaching Development and Educational Research.
  • Arrangements of special exercises at the department
Practical training is provided in the 600 sqm Medical Training Centre (MTC). For this purpose, three examination rooms, a patient room, an intensive care room and an operating theatre are available as a realistic learning environment. The authentic learning environment is completed by several high-tech simulators and actors used mainly in the communication courses. Biomedical Neuroscience: 2 x student labs, various labs at associated chairs and institutes of the faculty that host individual students.
