Special features regarding research activitiesThe Medical Faculty and the clinic of the LMU Munich are two of the most active university medicine research centres in Europe. The faculty is often the national leader in international research rankings. The LMU is the only university in Germany which is involved in all six German centres for health research; the Faculty of Medicine in four clusters of excellence and two graduate schools of the Excellence Initiative. The Clinic and Faculty house 14 Collaborative Research Centres and Transregios of the DFG (German Research Foundation) and many research projects from the European Research Council.
