Special features regarding teachingSince the winter semester 2018/19, the UWH has been offering a model degree course in medicine oriented towards the Master Plan 2020, the guiding principle of which is the physician personality who is capable of learning and acting. Problem-based learning and patient contact from the 1st semester (incl. 8 weeks of general practice intern ship) is just as much a part of the Witten didactics as clinical-practical training over approx. 40 block weeks and integrated curricula on the topics of communication, research methodology and practice, interprofessional skills and outpatient health care. Tracks allow you to set your own focus.
Arrangements of special exercises at the departmentA total of 36 practice rooms with examination couches are available for small groups.

Special features regarding research activitiesWith its research focus "integrative and personalized health care", the faculty concentrates on the pressing issues of health planning. With four departments of Human Medicine, Dentistry, Care Management and Psychology, it is possible to work on joint research topics. Research at the faculty is focused on three inter-disciplinary centres: The Centre for Biomedical Training and Research, the Centre for Clinical Studies and the Inter-Disciplinary Centre for Health Services Research.
Other special featuresAn integral part of the course is the Studium fundamentale relating to Art History, Philosophy, Politics and Culture.
