Special features regarding teachingIThe bachelor's degree has an extensive minor that provides an early interdisciplinary qualification. This can be further developed in the Master's degree within the framework of interdisciplinary studies. In both degree courses, project seminars introduce students to project work via research-based learning. The LearningCenter Informatik offers professional, methodical and technical support for students of computer science in their first to third semester. The aim of the LearningCenter Informatik is to facilitate the transition from school to university, especially for first-year students.

Special features regarding research activitiesThe six professorships located in the faculty cover only one part of the Computer Science-related research that there is on the campus. In addition to the Institute of Computer Science, the following are also active in the specialised research and teaching in the field of Computer Science: the Institute of Bioinformatics, Geoinformatics, Medical Informatics and Business Informatics. In addition, there are strong and long-standing collaborations with the life sciences.

Support for foundersThe REACH - EUREGIO Start-up Centre of the University of Münster supports company founders with numerous services, such as coaching of start-up teams and advice on start-up scholarships. The lecture "Principles of Entrepreneurship" is offered by REACH and can be credited within the framework of the General Studies in the Bachelor. Via the Minor Entrepreneurship of the Master's programme in Business Information Systems, further lectures are offered which are also credited in the Master's programme in Computer Science within the framework of the module "Interdisciplinary Studies".
