  • Special features regarding teaching
    The Bachelor's degree course in Biology combines a broad basic education in the natural sciences, which includes numerous internships and excursions, with specialisation through the selection of specialist biological modules in the final semesters. The consecutive Master's degree course in Biology offers students a wide range of different specialist biological modules and research group placements. Emphasis is placed on physiology, genetics, microbiology, ecology, botany, zoology and developmental biology. The degree course is highly research oriented.

    International Master’s degree course Molecular and Cellular Biosciences.
  • Special features regarding research activities
    There are widespread but close networks with the other institutes of the faculty and the other faculties of natural sciences and medicine as well as with research institutions: Institute of Plant Biochemistry, Institute of Plant Genetics and Crop Plant Research, Environmental Research Centre, German Centre for Integrative Biodiversity Research and the Halle-Jena-Leipzig University Network. In addition to SFBs, GRKs and other inter-institutional and inter-faculty projects also interweave the working groups.
