Special features regarding teachingTeaching takes place in close cooperation between academics and experts in university didactics. It is continuously evaluated, and prizes awarded and support provided for outstanding teaching and new forms of teaching. Teaching is research-oriented, so that students always learn highly topical content and techniques. The biology teaching at KIT has already been awarded by external reviewers (Teaching Prize of the State of Baden-Württemberg, Fellowship of the Stifterverband).
-
Special features regarding the international orientationWith the Erasmus programme it is possible to study a whole semester at a foreign university. Furthermore, our students can take individual courses at a foreign university, for example within the framework of the EUCOR programme. Some working groups maintain a close exchange with researchers all over the world, so that students are regularly sent to research institutions in the context of an intern ship or the final thesis. The course credits gained abroad are recognised.
-
Special features regarding research activitiesThe merger of KIT with the Research Centre (now Campus North) enables us to offer a broad spectrum of interdisciplinary, research-oriented teaching. Particularly in the Master's programme, students participate in current research in the internships and can thus already influence their profile and specialise during their studies.
-
Other special featuresThe biology degree course is divided into two learning phases. Applied biology and general biology. Applied Biology, in addition to basic education, focuses on industrial processes, applications and operations. General Biology, in contrast, also trains students in classical disciplines such as botany and zoology with the associated field trips.
